Do you ever have those nights when you just want to stay in, throw on your sweatpants and snuggle up with a great book or movie by the fire?! Me too, however that was not an option for me today. So, I opted for the next best thing – polka dots, leather, loved converse and a beautiful green scarf of course! Not everyday is going to be a “dress to the nines” kinda day, well at least not for me. I have found on “those” days I can still look put together, but be very comfortable. It is actually super easy; what I recommend is to collect a few go-to pieces each season for “those” days. Tips for finding those go-to pieces: I try to look for pieces that are a little flowy and fall away from my body – not so body conscious, comfortable materials – that will vary for each person and lastly I try to pick a couple items that are bright in color. One thing I try to keep in mind when picking out a flowy piece that falls away from the body is to make sure the design lines on the garment give the illusion of structure, such as the top I am wearing. I have linked to a few below that I felt accomplish this very well.
It is super easy to revert back to black and white and black and white, we all do it. So, when I saw this beautiful kelly-green scarf I knew it would be an amazing contrast to all the black and white I often wear. Adding a vibrant color to any outfit can truly bring it to life. I have shown a scarf here in a bright, bold color but, another couple of options instead of a scarf could be a statement piece of jewelry or a bold pair of shoes. They could be as simple as a pair of converse (as I am wearing in this post), a statement heel or a delicate pair of ballet flats in a vibrant color. Their are a lot of options when it comes to shoes and jewelry to really create a personal touch to an everyday outfit. Whatever you decide upon when stepping out and adding color to your outfit, just remember to make sure you feel confident and comfortable in what you chose. This is a great way to tell the world a little about who you are without saying a word:) I love that!
I hope you have fun adding a little bit of light into your comfortable go-to outfits!
